The Department of CSE at GCEM organized an Alumni Talk by Ms. Shruthi and Ms. Dhathri on August 30, 2024, for the 3rd-semester students. They emphasized the importance of excelling academically with a CGPA of 8-9 and mastering a programming language for a successful tech career. They recommended starting interview preparations early by choosing a domain and utilizing resources such as roadmap.sh, Udemy, and YouTube, as well as pursuing relevant certifications. Creating a GitHub profile to showcase projects and including it in resumes was also advised. The speakers highlighted the value of gaining practical experience through hackathons and internships, leveraging LinkedIn and Instagram for opportunities. They encouraged students to balance college life by enjoying trips, building a strong network, and participating in events. By the 7th semester, students should begin attending interviews, practice coding on platforms like Striver.SDE, develop aptitude skills, and consider GATE preparation for further studies abroad. Staying informed with daily news and upskilling before the final year were also recommended.
