The objectives for the Joint Club event included:
1. To provide a platform for students to test and expand their technical knowledge through a debugging session and general knowledge through a quiz.
2. To encourage students to work collaboratively in teams, enhancing their communication and team-building skills.
3. To stimulate a healthy competitive environment where students strive for excellence and demonstrate their problem-solving abilities.
4. To create an engaging and enjoyable learning experience that combines technical challenges with interactive activities.
On 11th September, 2024, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Gopalan College of Engineering and Management held a Technical and Non-technical event named Joint Club Event for students in the 3rd semester. This event was organized by the Clubs TechEon and Winfinity, and it contained 2 events namely a general knowledge quiz and a debugging the python snippet round.
The events were conducted in teams of 4. There was a total of 9 teams. All the teams were formed at random by the organizers. These teams were made at random to help the attendees learn to communicate with new people.
The first round was the general knowledge quiz that comprised of 20 questions ranging from easy to moderate level difficulty questions. The teams were given a total of 7 minutes to answer all the questions. Everyone diligently worked to solve the quiz.
The second round was the debugging round. Mohan organized this round. There were a total of 4 different snippets to debug in this round. The teams were given 30 minutes for finding the bugs in the codes. All the problems were related to python and to course that the attendees had studied during the 2nd semester. Every bug that was being found had points allotted depending on the difficulty in finding the bug.
The winners were decided by adding the points gained from the 4 different questions.
The winners for the quiz were decided by the most number of right questions answered along with the fastness of response from the students.
The outcomes of today's joint club event include:
1. Participants demonstrated an increased understand, as evidenced by their performance in the quiz and debugging session.
2. Participants demonstrated an increased understanding of technical concepts, as evidenced by their performance in the 2nd event.
3. Participants had the opportunity to meet and network with peers from different classes, fostering a sense of community within the department.
