Report on Skill on Wheels awareness - 2018

With reference to the VTU circular Ref.No: VTU/PS/2018-19/11469, dated 10.3.2018. The GCEM invited the volunteers from RIIIT and Skill India, Mysore to conduct Skill on Wheels awareness programme on 21st March 2018 at Amphi Theater. Skill on Wheels and Skillathon is initiated by Skill India, NSDC (Govt of India) in association with RIIIT Mysore. Mr.Mudasir and Ms.Rachana were the volunteers from RIIIT and Skill India, arrived to the GCEM campus around 11.00am. The final year students of all the branches and each faculty member from the respective branches were assembled in the Amphi Theater around 11.10am. The programme was started in the morning around 11.15am.

Dr. A.A. Powly Thomas Principal (GCEM), Executive Dean Dr.Shivprakash K graced the programme. This session was also attended by teaching and non-teaching staff members and final year students of all branches of GCEM. Mr. Vijaya Talapatadur (Dept of Physics) coordinated the programme.

The day was inaugurated with welcome speech by Ms. Neha Prabhu(CSE IV-sem). Dr. A.A. Powly Thomas Principal (GCEM) addressed the Skill on Wheels programme and followed by Dr.Shivprakash K. (Executive Dean) motivated the students about the programme.

Mr.Mudasir and Ms.Rachana Shared the information about skill on Wheels Awareness, represented by RIIIT, Mysore. The objective of Skill on Wheels included NSDC programmes (PMKVY, PMKK, SSC), how to focus the people towards employment, students are being instructed to register in www. HRcentre.in which is training conducted by RIIIT, at free of cost and discussed about Techathon (Tech series), Ideaprenerurs Club, and Pool drive for IT graduates. At the end of the session, there were questionnaires. This programme helps to the final year students with available skill development schemes which can make use for their skill. The interaction was good and our students and faculties shared their thoughts with them. At the end session Ms. Parinitha gave a vote of thanks. The lunch was arranged for the volunteers (2 numbers).

Mr.Mudasir and Ms.Rachana shared their information with Placement officer Mr.Tanveer. The Principal Dr. A.A. Powly Thomas presented the momento to the volunteers.
